Vandola Coffee Brewer – Handmade in Costa Rica
Vandola Coffee Brewer – Handmade in Costa Rica
The Vandola (pronounced BAN-dola) is a traditional Costa Rican clay pour-over coffee brewer. Designed by coffee expert Minor Alfaro Alpízar and handcrafted by local artisans, it brings out sweeter flavors, richer aromatics, and keeps coffee hotter for longer.
Why Choose a Vandola?
- Crafted in Costa Rica – Inspired by pre-Columbian design and the traditional chorreador.
- Sweeter, More Aromatic Coffee – The unique válvula allows oxygenation for a smoother cup with delicate acidity.
- Better Heat Retention – Clay walls hold warmth far longer than glass or ceramic.
- Individually made – No two Vandolas have the same finish or character.
- Community encouraged - the Vandola is made for social connection. Bring folks together around a heartfelt piece of art (that makes an amazing cup of coffee).
How to Brew with the Vandola
- Preheat – Rinse with hot water to warm the clay.
- Filter – Insert a standard V60 or Chemex paper filter.
- Grind – Medium grind is recommended; adjust to taste.
- Brew – Bloom with hot water, then pour slowly in circles until complete.

The Vandola Difference
More than a brewer, the Vandola is a cultural experience, a functional piece of Costa Rican artistry that supports local makers while elevating the way you brew at home.
