The Alfaro Master Roast brings together two coffee varietals: the bright, citrusy lift of Caturra and the sweeter, richer depth of Catuai. The result is a full-bodied dark roast that’s stout, clean, and layered with flavor.
This roast is special to us because it comes from our friend Minor Alfaro, someone who has played a real role in our own journey with Costa Rican coffee. If you’ve ever used a Vandola, you’ve already experienced his creativity - he invented it. Minor’s knowledge runs deep, but so does his generosity, and this roast feels like a little piece of both.
We love drinking this coffee in a Vandola because it brings out the natural sweetness and body Minor builds into his roasts. That said, it’s wonderfully versatile. Whether you brew it in a drip machine, French press, espresso, or however you make your morning cup, Alfaro keeps its balance and strength.
Alfaro means lighthouse. Sure it’s Minor’s last name, but it also describes exactly who he has been for us - someone who brings clarity, direction, and heart to the craft of Costa Rican coffee. This roast carries his name because it carries his touch.
