Cornizuelo Coffee
Cornizuelo Coffee
Known as Caracolillo, Cornizuelo is a rare peaberry bean, only one in twenty cherries grows this way, producing a single oval-shaped bean instead of the usual two. The result is a concentrated, full-bodied cup with rich chocolate, citrus, and nutty sweetness balanced by medium acidity.
Cultivated in Matambú’s Blue Zone soils, this coffee carries forward Costa Rica’s legacy of quality farming while directly sustaining indigenous Chorotega traditions. Coffee Balam is proudly woman-owned, and 5% of each sale goes to the Committee for the Culture and Preservation of Matambugueño Traditions.
