Who is Coffee Balam?

I (Cinthia) fell in love with a mission to support the underserved communities of my country. I wanted to create something that honored my Costa Rican roots in a real and lasting way—something that celebrated culture, preserved community, and carried meaning beyond a product. Coffee became the vehicle, but the mission was always bigger: connection, preservation, and pride.

When I met Will, that dream didn’t change—it grew. What started as my vision became our shared commitment. We fell in love, built a life together, and chose to build something meaningful alongside it.

Coffee Balam was born from that partnership. It exists to bridge cultures, to share the heart of Costa Rica with others, and to give back to the communities that inspired it in the first place. At its core, our company is about honoring heritage and proving that a successful business can be rooted in purpose.

What began as one person’s dream is now our shared mission—driven by love, sustained by community, and guided by a deep respect for where it all started.

Cinthia grew up in the countryside of Costa Rica, where life moved at a different pace and community meant everything. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work, family, and showing up for the people around her. Those roots have never left her.

Intelligent and deeply driven, Cinthia carved out her place in the business world through persistence and grit. As a prior business owner, she understands what it takes to build something from the ground up. Nothing was handed to her. She fought for opportunities, earned respect, and carried herself with quiet strength along the way.

She is ambitious, but never at the expense of kindness. Loving and community-oriented, she leads with heart. Her pride in being a Costa Rican woman is not just cultural—it is foundational. It shapes how she shows up, how she does business, and why Coffee Balam exists in the first place.

Will - a guy who fell in love with Costa Rica (and with a beautiful Tica)

Will grew up in a small country town in eastern North Carolina, where people meant what they said and showed up for each other. That kind of upbringing sticks with you. Family dinners, helping neighbors, long conversations on porches—that foundation shaped how he moves through life and business today.

Being the curious soul that he is, Will traveled to Costa Rica searching for something deeper—the true essence of the country, not just cookie cutter tourism. What he found was more than beautiful landscapes or great coffee. He found his wife, and in her, what he believes is the purest expression of Costa Rican heart and culture.

Will loves sharing great things with others. Whether it’s a meaningful experience, a good laugh, or an exceptional cup of coffee, he believes life is better when it’s shared. Kind, ambitious, and unapologetically wacky, he brings both vision and personality to Coffee Balam.
