FROM OUR NATIVE LANDS TO YOUR CUP

The Chorotega Indians, once dominant in Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, are a cornerstone of Costa Rica's cultural heritage, embodying the rich Mesoamerican traditions that preceded Spanish colonization. As skilled artisans, particularly in pottery, their influence persists in the vibrant artisanal crafts that define the region today. The Chorotega’s sophisticated agricultural practices, social organization, and religious rituals laid the foundation for many aspects of Costa Rican identity. Despite the challenges of colonization, their legacy endures, enriching Costa Rica’s cultural tapestry with deep historical roots and artistic traditions.

Our love and dedication to the Chorotega peoples is expressed through our coffees. Each sip of our delicious brews bring you closer to the heart of ancient Costa Rican culture. Over 25% of our beans are harvested from native lands. As an expression of our commitment to keeping the Chorotega name alive, 5% of the profits we receive go directly to the Committee for the Culture and Preservation of Matambugueño Traditions, an organization that is committed to supporting the legacy of the Chorotega people.
